Hi Tore,

If you want to go shipspotting just go to the Maasvlakte, you can stay there all day and you can see all the ships coming in to the port.

Maasvlakte :

Beerkanaal (Markweg ) My favortite place

Only for the morning hours, but you can make the most wonderfull pictures,

Rozenburg

Good place for shipspotting, but you don't see al the Big ones and sometimes not many ships

Europoort

In the morning hours wonderfull sunlight on the Tankers, only in the afternoon you having problems with the sun, just in front you

Tore,

Yes you can drive all the way to the end it's called the Landtong,
On the left side you can see the Tankers and Thialf and on the right side the Waterway all traffic in and out the city,
But at the Landtong you will not see the Big containervessels coming in,

This picture is taken from the Landtong

Hi Tore,

Have a look at Google maps, go to Rozenburg, Noordzeeweg, zoom into streetview, might be handy

I think the locks and the Southpier are the best places in IJmuiden .
Here you can do the same trick with Google streeview.
You cannot enter the south or north pier by car but you can go there on foot or by bike.
The locks are accesible.

Cheers Fred

Hi Tore,

Understand you'll be staing at the Beer Hotel. Remember when you'd like to drive towards Rozenburg and the Landtong, not to take the Thomassentunnel in the A 15. Please take the Calandbridge instead. It'll save you a lot of extra mileage....
