I agree with Captain Ted. There is absolutely no need that a spotter posts again and again the same ship and most time 5 angles !

in front of the shwedish island Vinga collied the Stena Jutlandica with a danish tanker TERNVIND. The S.J. was damaged seriously and has a hole with some sqm. The captain feaches the harbour with 620 pax on board.

Ken since you last post I didn't know your age. I thought your avatar is a fake.
Sorry we had most time in some little things not the same meaning and understandig.
But all my respect to manage a site in your age.
Sometimes time will come to retire and it is a good time to do it on the peak. I think 89 years is a good age to retire and start a new hobby. How about shipspotting ? I know a good site-shipspotting.com- where you can show your photos -worldwide-. But only in good quality.

Ken thanks for your engagement in the last years.

I think Derek is the right solution in this time. He is balancing and calm. He has experience to be the webmaster, because in past he showed that he can do it and he made a perfect job.
For future it is good to share the work on 3 other shoulders so this 4 had also enough time for their family and shipspotting.
Now we are back in calmer waters.
Thanks Derek

Peter

sorry all in German.
greetings

Peter

by the way why has the situation changed. Some years ago shipspotting was in front of naming casualities and now I got this information from a forum where norwegian Hurtigruten is the main threat ( thanks Zotti!!) we should no longer discuss what is a good shipphoto  we should come back to be the first in naming important information on ship industrie!

on 5.5.2015 there was heavy storm in North of Germany. Hamburg harbour was effected.
on the Containership Al Qibla (L=366m ) broke 2 stern lines. She drifted towards the Kuala Lumpur Express. The ship bows of both ships were damaged. The bow of the K.L.E. also damaged a container gantry.
At the same time more lines were broken at Hanjin Gold (L=366mm),MSC Margarita (L=263m) Barmbek (L=160m)
Hanjin Gold makes a fast sheet anker maneuver and stopped the moving. The Bianca Rambow was fixed with the policeboat in the middle of the fairway and moved with his own power and the help of the police boat to her berth and was safely towed.
The Barmbeck moved also in the main fairway, made a fast sheet anker maneuver with 2 ankers. With the help from a boat of Hamburg port authority and a tug she was moved also to her berth.
At MSC Margarita also a rope brokes, but the ship didn't move away
