Shipping News and information / SAND SWAN (ex South Coast Dredger)

Hi,

The Marine & Towage Services Group's tug MTS VICTORY has just sailed from Tor Bay with the old sand dredger SAND SWAN in tow for Leith to be broken up (AIS ETA showing as 02 March 2020 at midday).  They have been anchored off Brixham for a couple of weeks after arriving there from Liverpool.

Trip reports / Amsterdam-Hook of Holland

Hi,

I'm thinking of planning a trip to Hook of Holland in March and will be flying into Amsterdam.  Last September I was there and there was no rail connection from the Hook as the new metro was being built.

Could anyone advise me if this has now been completed and confirm that rail or metro connections with the Hook are now available, normal circumstances permitting, please?

Site related news, functions and modules / Port History shown when accessing photos

Good afternoon,

I was looking at the port history element which is displayed when a particular photo has been selected and this seems to be out of date in a number of cases (i.e. not updated since April and the ship is still trading in areas with good AIS coverage).

I may have missed something discussed in a previous forum subject, if so apologies.

Has anyone else noticed this please and has there been an explanation?

Shipping News and information / COUNTESS WEAR whereabouts

I am interested in finding out what happened to the small sludge carrier COUNTESS WEAR, built in 1963 by J Bolson of Poole as the S.W.2.  She worked out of the Exeter Ship Canal for many years until international restriction prevented her use for distributing processesd sludge in Lyme Bay.  Equasis records her as the COUNTESS, 5417507, but with little further information.  She used to be visible from the M5 Exe bridge when alongside the processing plant.

I believe that she went from the Exeter Canal to the River Dart for layup, but have no further information.

FYI: the S.W in S.W.2 stood for Sewage Works, S.W.1 being a lorry used on the site.
