The Chittagong vessel list includes a 180m bulk carrier named FU YI. The vessel was last reported on AIS with MMSI 626238000 under the flag of Gabon with c/sign TRAN7. The data quoted for this vessel is incorrect. I believe her to be the former FU XING 1 (IMO 7375492). Informa show this vessel as "existence in doubt". It is possible that she traded in China as SHUN DA5 from around 2010. If anyone has a photographed of SHUN DA 5 I would be interested to see it.

Help and Advice / Re: Humber Shipping Movements Query
« on: December 06, 2021, 03:28:54 PM »
Hello Tom,

From what I have observed on passage time for inward vessels would be upon entering the Humber VTS area. For outbound ships it will be the time leaving a river berth or if locking out from a dock the exit time from the lock

Cheers

According to my information this vessel was demolished at Guayaquil, Ecuador and not in China. See her last position on Marinetraffic. This is a known demolition area and can be seen on Google Earth

From a 1985 Lloyds Register the net tonnages are 2,199 and 960 respectively. Are these wrecks in the Lagos area? Any photos would be appreciated.

Thanks Davidships. I had heard she had been sold to Lebanese interests. Maybe a potential livestock carrier conversion.

Shipping News and information / RITA SCHEPERS

Looking for any information on the status of Szczecin-built RITA SCHEPERS (IMO 9134622). She arrived at Lattakia on 10th April 2017. Her last AIS position was in Lattakia port 22nd October 2017. BV withdrew her class in August due to overdue surveys. Any information welcome.

The bulker (2640350) is JIA XIN 1 (09/12558 - MMSI 413357320).

Google Earth now has an image dated 26th October 2016 which shows TAN CHON on the same berth as the May image.

10
The TAN CHON is clearly visible on Google Earth at Chongjin. The image is dated 080516. The AIS position further south nine days later appears to be an odd location so might indicate a casualty. As and when the Google Earth image is updated the situation may become clearer. North Korean vessels usually go to China for demolition.

There are a couple for Port Everglades and Miami (weather looks nice) here.

I'm not aware of any others for the UK.

Help and Advice / Re: Shipping Magazines

Hello,

For up to date information on short-sea shipping the bi-monthly magazine "Coastal Shipping" is a very good source. Whilst it focuses primarily on European vessels there are regular reports from further a field as well as articles on vessels of the past. You can find more information at the website, www.coastalshipping.co.uk

Shipping News and information / Re: SD14 beached at Gadani
« on: August 26, 2014, 07:36:01 AM »
She is the NADEEN (761477) which beached at Gadani 15th August. She was the last but one SD-14 to trade. The sole survivor is the RYONG GANG 2.

Most ships sold by the larger shipping companies are not sold direct to ship breakers but via cash buyers. Once the shipping company has sold a vessel to a cash buyer they would want the named changed, especially those with corporate nomenclature. The cash buyer is likely to choose an FOC like Comoros, Kitts & Nevis or Togo to get the best deal on registration fees and various certificates.

RED FULMAR was anchored off Tuzla as FULMAR in June 2006 (see Shipping Of The Bosphorus page 10) in very poor condition. By October 2007 she had arrived at Haifa and was undergoing conversion by Israeli Shipyards. I had some correspondence with a gentleman there who confirmed her presence but whether the conversion was completed I do not know.
