She is the NADEEN (761477) which beached at Gadani 15th August. She was the last but one SD-14 to trade. The sole survivor is the RYONG GANG 2.

My source shows HAI JI SHUN ( ex Morviken) as still trading , although I sure this will be out of date

I also though there was a thread on this forum dedicated to the whereabouts of the SD14s but couldn't find anything ?

Hi Mike fascinating for me indeed. The sd14 Santa Isabella IMO 7357907 was operated in tramp service by Nautconsult Shipping Co. a London based subsidiary of the German group Oetke(Hamburg Sud). Masters came from UK,Poland,Germany,Spain.. There were two crewing agencies in Vigo (Spain) and Montevideo ( Uruguay) for the rest of the crew and a laundryman from Singapore (the register/flag port). My last trip Buenos Aires-Dalian (China)general cargo ,mainly steel coils, via Singapore for bunkering. Then general cargo in S.Korea,Japan ,Hong Kong, for Djibouti,Jedda and Accaba(Jordania). Then a full cargo of empty containers from Piraeus to Lisbon where the ship was sold and changed name to NACIONAL SETUBAL... well this is a matter for Shipsnostalgia...

Thats incredible .. I didnt think voyages/vessels still existed , especially with one or two UK crew member as well !
Also as an R/O I thought you lot were extinct replaced by GMDSS electronics !
You'll be telling me next you used to send HF messages over SITOR !

Mike

PS I'm feeling very nostalgic after reading that

Hi again,Mike. As a matter of fact i never used radiotelex although it was onboard many ships in 1982.As a matter of fact in that trip,at Yokohama was installed on board of our ship one GPS receiver that was used only as a curiosity( There were a few satellites and the position were recorded every a few hours). But that satellite receiver and the full cargo of empty containers on a SD'14 showed to me the end of an era. But radiotelegraphy lasted till the end of the century, see as an example the British radio station Portishead/GKA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portishead_Radio
Best regards and yes, lots of nostalgia
