Was in attendance. Hemiksem is now lurking near the shore and Danio is exactly where it started out; on the rocks!

The Hemiksen has been in the Tyne since late last night and is still here!

Not exactly your big salvage tug with only a 40 ton bollard pull, then IF/WHEN they do get the Danio off what are they going to do next?

Reports say she is holed and needs a drydock and the nearest is on the Tyne and currently the Normand Pioneer is sitting in it

My favourite yacht is my own which amazingly I worked 45 years for  and not from with money gained from either criminal activities, despotic, corrupt regimes or exploitation of working people.

Is it me or have they finally removed the funnel off the Costa Concordia? or have they just covered it up?

I have been folowing the  salvage progress reports on various sites and the critical time will be when they roll her upright, however that also will be slow and controlled.

I know Titan Salvage from my diving days and my bet is they have her afloat this year!

The stricken cruise liner COSTA CONCORDIA is to be righted and will be reflotated, in what will be the biggest operation of its kind ever seen. Teams of engineers will work around the clock seven days a week for a year in the €225 operation which is expected to start in may, four months after the liner struck rocks and capsizing leaving 32 dead, with two bodies still unaccounted for. The ship is currently lying at an angle of 80 degrees, just outside the entrance to giglio harbour, an island off the coast of Italy on Friday 13th of January.

We have 16 individual cruise ships due into the Tyne between April and October plus many also doing multiple trips making 38 in all.

Thanks for the explanation and information and I hope they throw the book at him, I would not sail with that idiot if they paid me.

If that incident happened on our local river the Tyne our local 'Port of Tyne Authority' have the power to ban him from ever using the river again.

I trust everyone does not put all yachtsmen in this plonkers class.

There is no doubt the yacht is entirely in the wrong due to the 'Collision at Sea regulations section 5 & 18, the tanker is of 'restricted manoeuvrability'.

I think only for the grace of God there was not a fatality.

Section 5 'Lookout'

Every vessel shall at all times maintain a proper look-out by sight and hearing as well as by all available means appropriate in the prevailing circumstances and conditions so as to make a full appraisal of the situation and or the risk of collision.


Section 18 B

A sailing vessel underway shall keep out of the way of:
(i) a vessel not under command.
(Ii) a vessel restricted in her ability to manoeuvre.
(Iii) a vessel engaged in fishing

The City of St Petersberg is now a regular visitor to the Tyne, reports are Pilots are not keen on her futuristic bridge as due to it being round, visability of the bow area during docking is limited.

Hi Robert

Yep the AH 001 (short for Amerada Hess 001) is still here at the McNulty Yard since 2009.
They do not appear to be doing anything major on her at present other than routine mainternance.
McNulty currently is building wind turbine modules and structures.

We also have the smaller Furgo Seacore Jack up rig Excalibur at Swans yard and the new foundation bases are going down for the two new rigs to be built at the new OGN yard.

Also currently at the Swans yard we are scrapping redundant rig modules and structures.

The A&P yard is also busy building new module sections for the new aircraft carriers and also ship repair.

The Tyne at present is a busy river!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I recieve e-mails from all over the world, I do however because of this have a very good security system (not your standard stuff)but anything it does not like gets put into a seperate folder, so I at least can look at it before  deciding to delete it or not.
I have just finished searches and also gone through 'all' e-mails just incase Angelo came in undercover, but nothing, strange thing is I have had e-mails from Angelo before albeit some time ago when Xvas first started and never had any problems logging in until they changed the system !.
