It is reported that HMS Endurance on-board Dockwise heavy lift ship Target is due to arrive off Portsmouth on Wednesday  April 8th. After arriving off spithead she will stay in the Solent for several days to allow for safety inspections, planning meetings and to free her from the carrier ship.
She is then due to be towed into Portsmouth Navel Base on Saturday April 11th, at about 3pm.

Shipping News and information / Norstone
« on: March 03, 2009, 04:22:08 PM »
Is it me or has Norstone been rather static at Marchwood as of late, with the smaller Donald Redford servicing her normal call at Kendals Langstone. Being smaller Donald Redford usually serves Fareham and Tipner at the top of Portsmouth habour.
Is this down to a drop off in the demand for aggregates or does Norstone have a problem!

Shipping News and information / Stalker
« on: October 23, 2008, 08:50:47 PM »
STALKER is laying at Pounds scrapyard awaiting her fate as she has done so for a number of years. Being the last of her kind it should be possible to save her, but being on the Historical Ship List and the tireless work of The Maritime Steam Restoration Trust does not seem to be enough.
They can save the remains of the Mary Rose which is nothing more than a piece rotting wood but not the last remaining steam engined LST. I fear that the battle for her survival may be nearing its end since the removal of her bow doors and part of her bow ramp on H+s grounds. Why does this country give up its maritme history so easily.

Shipping News and information / Demolition of Stalker
« on: August 01, 2008, 03:55:27 PM »
The old LST HMS Stalker which was on the Historical ship list and has been lying at Pounds shipyard in Portsmouth for a number of years seems to be in the process of being broken up.Being a member of the Maritime Steam Restoration Trust and living local I have been keeping a eye on her. When I visited the site on the 31/07/08 I found that the bow doors had been removed and half the bow ramp had been cut away. It is a sad fate for one on the last of her kind and she follows HMS Handy in the same yard which was cut up a few weeks ago, another historical ship .I will post latest photo soon.

Shipping News and information / Norstone
« on: March 11, 2008, 07:56:41 PM »
Dredger Norstone seems to have left her normal operating South Coast area and is shown on AIS as being in Hull. Does anyone have any info as to the reason for this, although when I last saw her departing Langstone harbour she did look a little worse for wear.
