MV Palawan IMO 9937402 is being added as a fourth vessel to ANL's TransTasman schedule.Maybe the 4th vessel is required as it appears they are now going to be calling at 6 NZ ports.
And almost every day, the top four "most popular" are old B&W images of old ships with no particular photographic merit.
Rio Negro IMO 9357975 is phasing out of the Southern Star service. Her replacement is Maersk Rio India IMO 9357963 ex Rio de Janeiro.
Looking at the photos on Marine Traffic she is an old ship.
Two vessels absent from the Maersk "Southern Star" service are due to return imminently following drydockings, the SFL Maui and Rio de la Plata will replace the fill-in's SFL Hawaii and Monte Tamaro. Some speculation Maersk would take the opportunity to redecorate the Rio de la Plata into their colours and naming scheme as they did last year with other former Hamburg-Sud vessels. This possibility made more likely by a source
suggesting a Maersk Rio Delta will join the service at the same time other schedules nominate the Rio de la Plata.
According to shipbrokers Intermodal, the MSC chartered Pohorje has been sold to Swiss based interests, so it is quite possible MSC have purchased her. It will be interesting to see if she returns next month with a new name. Maybe MSC Pohorje IV? (Her TEU capacity is 4043)
