Just drove down the coast road and seen the Ark Royal steaming off Souter Point towards Sunderland, not on my shipplotter thou.

When Illustrious arrived she steamed off towards Blyth for a while before turning into the Tyne, the Arks probably waiting for the tide or a pilot

Hi All

If you want to catch the arrival of HMS Ark Royal and cannot be there in person - aim your browser at this web camera - she is due in view at 15.00 today.

Hi Brian

Plenty of time yet - I'll probably set off from home when I see the Tugs moving off from their berth  :-)

Hi Jon

Well, I suppose we should be grateful that she is open at all - when HMS Illustrious was last in the Tyne she wasn't open to the public at all ;-)

LOL I know that it is grateful that we are allowed aboard to visit. It is also a very good idea as far as recruitment goes. As the young ones (kids-teenagers age group) will be able to have a look around and might help with their choice into which force they want to go in if they join the forces.

But what I was getting at tounge firmly in cheek. ;-)

Is that when something like this happens, it always has a canny knack for open days to be held when Im at work with no way of being able to escape.

I will be having a pop up later this afternoon to see her berthed up. So at least Im glad that I will at least get a chance to see her, before she ends up in Graythorpe (Scrap) Yard. ;-)
