Advice please powering laptop from lead acid battery
« on: September 21, 2011, 02:02:29 PM »
Can I power my laptop with a 12V lead acid battery with an AC to DC convertor? The battery outputs a stable voltage, and this solution is preferable in the field, rarther than frequent trips to a pub to charge up the laptop.

thank you

the laptop is 11.1v, so would I be able to power an AC to DC convertor from a 12 source?

I am not an expert but I can charge my laptop using the household/domestic charger by plugging it into a sine wave or ac/dc converter. this converts the 12 volts DC in my car to 220 v AC which is needed by my domestic laptop power supply.
just ensure that the ac/dc converter is powerful enough to supply whatever wattage is required by the laptop charger
