MMSI 051847104 aground in mid North Altantic?
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:10:32 PM »
I was just playing around with Siitech Lite, when I spotted this vessel in mid North Atlantic and with navigation status showing as "Aground".

Can this be true?

I can't find a ship name for MMSI 051847104.

Probably untrue. I use AIS systems everyday and notice a huge amount of erroneous ship details and statuses, probably due to incorrect data entry aboard ship.

Thanks, Phil.

Do you know if that MMIS is valid?

Hi,
how I can see also the speed is wrong - 52.9knt!!!The other this which I noticed so many times at sea is that the AIS status of so many ships is wrong due to negligence or misunderstanding of ship's personnel. And I believe that so many of us saw this "event" ;D.
Regarding the MMSI - really is wrong!I never see MMSI like this and no one country have such kind of MMSI.
Or may be everything regarding this vessel is wrong due to some technical problem of their AIS equipment.

Jimbo,

All MMSI numbers are issued and administered by the ITU. They have a website where you can search for valid MMSI numbers http://www.itu.int/online/mms/mars/ship_search.sh

According to the search, that MMSI number is not a valid ship station.
