Maersk B Class and the MSC Cheetah service.
« on: October 27, 2010, 09:59:03 AM »
Anyone have any more information or pictures of the Brooklyn, Beaumont, Boston or Bentonville, that have been signed to MSC's service from the Far East to South Africa?

It would be interesting to see what's become of them, and whether or not they've been re-painted in MSC livery, given that they've lost the Maersk prefix.

Anyone?

As a side note, picked up Brooklyn, in Jeddah on MarineTraffic.com yesterday while searching for an MOL ship. Definitely doesn't have the Maersk prefix anymore.

My guess is they'll end up being painted black. The reason for implementing these vessels on the Cheetah service is the usefulness of their speed capability in piracy areas....

The BALTIMORE (ex Maersk Baltimore)was in Gibraltar today still sporting full Maersk colours and Maersk Line on her hull although most of her containers on deck were MSC. She left a few hours ago heading for Antwerp.

Thanks for that fella's, you certainly cleared everything up. It is a bit of a pity to see that they're letting the rust chew in to them quite a bit, particularly on the port side along the bow (i've noticed this occuring on the other vessels of the class, right down to identical weld joints between the same hull plates on each vessel!). There was a rumour that these were being considered as testbeds for OOCL's studies on fitting small nuclear plants in to container vessels, but thats probably just a load of BS.
