Are ship arrivals, news? - Could anyone help?

G'day All

As being relatively new to being a moderator of the "Shipping News" forum, I would like to ask, are shipping arrivals news? I am not all that sure.

Could anyone please help?

If I was going to post news of a ship arrival (not that we seem to be having many on the Tyne at the moment) I would post it in the News Section of the Forum.

I suppose they are if its an unusual ship or a first time visit. But if you think the Tyne is quiet try the Wear.

Yes I agree with others up here on the North East Coast, we usualy post 'arrivals' on Shipping News' as it 'is NEWS', with general stuff going in 'shipspotters'.
As said we do not get loads of shipping up here these days but we do get our share of unusual ships, rigs, Navel stuff etc and ship photography is a keen hobby along the East coast.
On the lighter side we have a good team of 'spotters' along the North East Coast and nothing much happens without one of us spotting it!

A little birdie tells me that HMS Bulwark will be visiting the Tyne next month  :-)
