Algoma Tankers New Tankers
« on: July 24, 2008, 09:18:39 AM »
Hi,

Just wondering if there are any news on the new tankers for Algoma Tankers. I think a new one is coming to Canada soon, any photos of the new ships as well.

Thanks
Dean

Dean,

1. The resale 11,240 dwt newbuilding "Algonova" appears to have been delayed at the shipyard, delivery was expected June/July. No news on updated delivery schedule.

2. Algoma entered into an agreement with Bernhard Schulte, Sloman Neptun and Intrepid shipping to establish a new chemical/products tanker pool for vessels in the 16000 - 25000 dwt range. Consequently, Algoma contracted 3 x 16,000 dwt IMO2 vessels to be built at Jiangzhou Shipyard for delivery 2011.

3. In conjuction with pool partners, Algoma ordered a further 2 x 25000 dwt IMO2 vessels at Nantong Mingde for delivery 2010/2011

Hope that helps,
Phil

She is supposed to sail today (Jan 19) for Quebec City.
She was towed into port by ATLANTIC BEAR, but I guess whatever the problem it was not too serious.
