Explosion on Hyundai Fortune

in the Gulf of Aden the Hyundai Fortune was seen by dutch marine vessel "De Zeven Provinciën" on fire and with a hole on portside. Explosions are taking place.

From the dutch news:

On Tuesday the 21st of March the dutch marine fregat “de Zeven Provindiën” Was helping out the large containervessel the “Hyundai Fortune” who got in trouble at the “gulff of Aden”.
Rescuers saw a big hole at the larboard of the ship and lots of smoke coming out if it. On board there are a lot off epxplotions happening.
The 27 crewmembers are rescued by the dutch fregat. One crewmember got injured and is taken of the ship by helicopter and is being looked afther by the shipsdokter on “De Zeven Provinciën”.

The last news was that they won’t be able to save the Hyundai Fortune.

I also got some better pictures by e-mail, which show that the fire has engulfed the whole aft ship aft of the acommodation.

Let's hope they can save her.

Although its a small picture you can see that extensive damage has been caused to the ship and containers on board.
These situations although rare are always serious due to the amount hazardous cargo container ships carry.

Those are the same pictures I had, but I didn't feel comfortable posting them since they're not my copyright.

The same pictures have now also been posted by leading shipping newspaper Tradewinds (www.tradewinds.no).

Judging from the pictures, it could turn into a worse and more costly disaster than "Hanjin Pennsylvania".

Coz I´m not a subscriber there, can´t find there more out, but just wondering if she is started sinking too? And there shouldn´t be yet fire-fighters in the site, so I presume the sinking cannot be caused by the fire-fighters.

Just out of curiosity what is she now?

Shocking fire though, glad nobody was hurt or killed.  Hopefuly the ship can be salvaged.

The initial explosion must have been massive  -  there is a battered container on top of the funnel.

it's even worse. A container from the stack aft of the bridge was flung OVER the bridge and is now resting on the front side of the bridge.....  :-o
