Could P&O Cruises Australia be dissolved?
« on: July 08, 2020, 05:30:00 PM »
With the pandemic and the cruising shutdown causing Pullmantur Cruises and Birka Cruises to go bankrupt, there are other cruise lines that could be next and P&O Cruises Australia is one of them. It was founded in 2001 and currently has three vessels: Pacific Dawn, Pacific Aria, Pacific Explorer. The First two vessels I mentioned have already been sold to CMV Cruises, but the Pacific Explorer is currently for sale. The cruise line also plans to receive from Princess Cruises the Golden Princess and the Star Princess by 2021 as the Pacific Adventure and the Pacific Encounter respectively. If P&O Cruises Australia goes bankrupt, what will happen to the vessels. Would the Pacific Dawn and the Pacific Aria still join CMV or will the transfer be cancelled? Would the Pacific Explorer be sold to another cruise line, rejoin Princess Cruises, or be scrapped? And what about the Golden Princess and the Star Princess? If they don't get transferred, would Princess keep the vessels or sell them for scrap. It's worrisome to think about it, but with this pandemic, we can only watch and hope for the best.

We have to save the Golden Princess and the Star Princess because if Carnival shuts down P&O Australia, they may scrap the vessels instead.

Cruise and Marine Voyages have shut down so it's likely that the Pacific Dawn and the Pacific Aria will be scrapped instead.

P&O Cruises Australia is not going to be dissolved, so this topic is totally pointless!

Already confirmed the GOLDEN PRINCESS and STAR PRINCESS will transfer to P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival have recently announced that the SEA PRINCESS will also transfer.

The PACIFIC ARIA has supposedly been sold to a new start up operator Blue World Cruises but this has yet to be confirmed as it appears that her sale to CMV was cancelled. The attached image shows the PACIFIC ARIA what she would appear like after a major refit to convert her in a "residence at sea".

P&O Cruises Australia is the market leader in Australian/New Zealand and the brand is extremely popular and well established.

I do admire your enthusiasm but really I don't think that you fully understand the costs involved especially when you wrote...We have to save the GOLDEN PRINCESS and STAR PRINCESS.

Please be a bit more realistic and don't let your enthusiasm get in the way of reality.

The fact that know one else has taken part in this discussion says a lot!

Wow, that looks like it could cost a lot of money as they would have to remove some metal to add windows, add a deck, and other enhancements. It can be done as Costa Cruises did spend 90 million euros to do a similar thing to the Costa neoRomantica. I hope the Vasco da Gama also goes to Blue World to also get a Identical upgrade. Also, Blue World Cruises is owned by ANEX Tour and they also did buy the Saga Sapphire. It would make sense to buy vessels to start up a new cruise line.

Yes, Owen, they owe you: https://blueworldvoyages.com/

I suppose that, as they specialise in the fitness market, there will be lots of strong swimmers - and hence the reduction in numbers of lifeboats.
