Hello,
this is not exactly about the concept, about the way how advertisement is displayed. I am not sure if that is new or have been since a while. One advertisement bar appears on the bottom of the site which obstructs the scroll bars when viewing a photo in full screen. Scrolling left and right is not possible due to that advertisement. Can't this be moved to the side as it was always in the past?
Thanks, Axel

Hi,

on the log-in site, left, there is a "t" missing in "shipspoting".

Maybe the "photos online" could be in smaller letters and not as a headline. My impression.

Is there any new funtionality? For example getting notified when one posts a comment under a photograph? Older comments under photographs not so popular and opened 100 times per hour were neglected and some good questions/comments with additional info in the comments never answered and read anylonger. At least that could be as an option switched on or off by each member individually to get notified when a comment posted under his photograph? Maybe bit tricky such feature?

Thx,
Axel

El Camino Espanol... one of four Niteroi built sisters; when I saw her some years back I thought it's a Kiel built of these Sloman Con/Ro.

I do not know whether my photos are considered interesting, but I do not want to see them being shared on a social medium like Twitter. So I am not in favour of this proposal.
Thanks Pieter.

"Vronskiy Imo 7637149 Loa 131x22m Built 1978 Passenger Ro/Ro # Waiting as Damla"

Another classic and well maintained ferry is gone.

Help and Advice / Re: Scanner recommendations

Vuescan is a good scanning software I can recommend for slides and films. Anyway it's always a matter of your original material you used. You can get very expensive purpose built slide/film scanners with multi-pass and their patented image improvement function but unless your material is not satisfactory, you cannot get crisp images of it.
Cheers.

Hi Axel,

IMO 9120425 is the IMO number of chemical/product tanker "Tamgout" which has also recently been scrapped (if I am not mistaken).

Hi Jens,

that's right, I didn't check it as well. Theofilos is this one: IMO 7362108

Thanks,
Axel

Thanks for sharing that info....sadly two great classic ferries gone:

Vitsentzos Kornaros Imo 7558327 Loa 128x19m Built 1976 Passenger/Ro/Ro
Theofilos Imo 9120425 Loa 149x23m Built 1975 Passenger/Ro/Ro

where Vitsentzos' IMO should be 7358327.

Both ships ended almost in their original appearance with slight modifications only over the years. That's rare.

Best regards,
Axel

Hi,

I just found this picture:

http://shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3117918

It's an Eastern Pacific Shipping vessel.

Does anyone know if the below ULCC was related to same company?

Thanks,

That was a very short view only over the port. Mink Deville...I must be dreaming.

Thanks, Yvon. Great. Then I bet for Innovator or Explorer, the second part of the name is longer. A second before this screenshot, the bow part with name was visible.

Cheers,

Axel

Hi,

can anybody identify that ship berthed anywhere in NY? Should be around 1985, its a screenshot taken from a music videoclip.
I guess in the background I see the Peking.

Thanks,

Axel

Site related news, functions and modules / Watermarks
« on: June 03, 2019, 07:45:54 AM »
Hi,

this happens when pictures without a good watermark are uploaded. A good idea is to place a clever watermark over the whole picture so that the original object (ship) is not obstructed at all and no viewer is "offended" by that watermark. I think it should be possible that an automatism places a semi-transparent watermark over the picture, diagonal or horizontal once uploaded. This will prevent thieves. If one is interested in the original picture without a watermark, he can ask the photographer/copyright owner.

Yvon, Thank you!

Best regards,
Axel
