As I understand it Some pf the ships have transferred crew members to other P&O ships . They then wait onboard for a flight home to India or Manila, for example is confirmed or found. One example is the Indian Government who are battling a covid pandemic, have to give permission for the flight, once that has come through the ship moves to a berth i.e. Dover or Southampton to discharge them for the airport. Also again as I understand it nobody is allowed onboard to combat covid-19.

The other ships that go up and down the channel are getting rid of there grey water.

The Oceana's sister ship in Australia is up for sale as well. Don't think it will be long for the Aurora, The Arcadia may survive as she does the Wold Cruises. but I somehow think her days are numbered as well.
I don't think I will ever travel on the new ship the Ionia, its to big and I am to afraid of a Covid-19 outbreak.

Shipping News and information / Re: cruise ships at sea

I think there is a bigger picture coming towards the cruising companies. I think people will now start to think that they wont get on any of these supersized ships as has been seen when a bug gets onboard it spreads through the ship like wildfire. In the past it has been a cold or a cough which most people passed of not thinking that it may have been on the ship for months. Then there was our old friend Norovirus, which in fairness the cruise companies kept under control. But it was possible when you went into your cabin the people had been in it were infected and you could be to on your new trip.
Now has come the big one covid-19, went through these large ships, and killed passengers and less we forget crew as well. Shipping Companies became helpless as world Governments turned them away,
My wife has been a avid cruiser, but not any longer, the elderly passengers of which we belong,  will look hard and long at these huge liners and wont book them and go for the smaller ship.

My wife and I were on the Ventura when both her engines broke down and she had to be towed into Santa Cruz, Tenerife. a few days later she had to be towed out into deep water to discharge her grey water. She was then towed back into port to complete the repairs.Seems a normal thing.

I would also just like to say P&O treated us very well.

I have had photo's removed, just the other day I had taken off, it's something you get used to. I was a little annoyed when it first happened, but then I see the standard that some of the photo's reach,. What you have to bear in mind, is the photo's that you have taken have a WOW factor to us who want to get where you are. and you will remove the enjoyment and puzzlement of how in hell did he take such a good shot as that, which then spurs others on. I do hope you dont stop posting, but will respect what ever you do.
best regards

Shipping News and information / P&O Azure
« on: June 11, 2015, 03:03:37 PM »
Joining Azura on Saturday for cruise to Norway one week, just been informed via e-mail by P&O, that there is on last cruise an increase in the numbers of gastrointestinal illness on board among the passengers, The pattern of illness strongly suggests that this was caused by Norovirus. Boarding has been delayed by two hours to allow a extensive sanitation programme. Credit to P&O for telling us prior to boarding, and that they are trying to sort it out. Not hiding it under the carpet.

Also the smallest ship in the P&O fleet the Adonia is going to become the Fathom next year running out of the States, more change and not for the best.

Scale Models / Re: P&O Cruise Ship resin models
« on: August 17, 2013, 03:49:51 PM »
I was on the arcadia a couple of months ago and you are right they are sold onboard for about 68 pounds. I  thought the models to be of poor manufacture, They do come up on the P&O site for sale on ebay I think there was one for sale last week But I think I would save my cash. I stood in the shop on the Arcadia and I thought in value twenty pounds tops and I collect 1/1200 model ships most of my life.
