I was also there in maasflakte. The weather got a 4 pm a little bit rainy, but only small problems to make fotos now I'm in the Delta Hotel.
Are someweher other spotters in Rotterdam?
When will the Maersks come tomorrow? what will be the best places where are the other spotters?
It would be nice to get some feedback

Help and Advice / Re: Spotting at Hong kong
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:25:38 PM »
forget it.
all ferries which go to macau, guangzouh and shekou are closed shipbodies. You have to photograph behind a window. 1st class is upperdeck, the windows are a bit larger and a little bit more clean. near the ferryterminal on hong kong island you can take some nice pictures. I'm more familiar with HK Island and not so with Kowloon so I can only give information about this side.
I normally look for a ferry with open balkony near the star ferry. I think the name is peer 1 to 5(?) and the shipspotting tour can  start.
also very good is take the bus to Cyberport there the vessels will pass you very near.If you have enough money you can stay there at Le Meridien hotel.

Help and Advice / Re: Freighter Cruises
« on: May 11, 2011, 09:59:32 PM »
3 years ago i made with my family a freighter cruise on CMA CGM Medea from Port Kelang to Shanghai and back to Port Kelang and it was very very good.
The food was  o.k. on every lunch or dinner 1 bottle of wine, white meat- white wine, red meat- red wine. The staff was helpful and friendly, every time we are allowed to visit the bridge. In evey port they and the agents helped us to leave the ports. All things behind the port is your job also to come in time back to the port and on the ship. In Shanghai yangshan we had to manage by 4 busses to go to the city, when we wanted to go back in the evening there was no bus we had to go by taxi. You must be able to manage in a foreign country your own things, there are no guided tours. Also you are on board not important, important is the vessel and the cargo. In the port comes first the agent, then the imigration and when everything is done and clear you can leave. It is possible that you have to wait one or two hours but the staff also. When you are friendly to them they will be fiendly to you and help you with information, when they have one.
There is a large difference between a cruise and a freightercruise.
Next year I will make the next one, probably again on a CMA CGM vessel

you got it that is the exact problem, we loses space for photos which someone upload at the moment.
Good night actually I'm in Hong Kong form my hotel I can overview the harbour a lot of space for tomorrow. Let us see what MSC and Maersk will send. 5 berthes are free and at the 6th there is a HOEGH Car carrier and uploades cars at a container terminal where are 6 cranes free

My vision is,

you can view only photos on shipspoztting no copy, if you want to copy them you have to get permission.
If that will happen I will spot again my pictures. Actually I show only a very small number.
I like the meeting and the trips as STEVO  makes at the moment and my wishes are that there will be more in other europe harbours to see the best places and to meet my friends
I agree with Cornelia that the photo show on the other side was much better.
The site has changed it is less personally and the comments on the forum are much less.
Tomorrow I will be again in Hong Kong I hope I can spot another gigant.

Shipping News and information / Re: xVAS and grosstonnage.com

I know Xvas since the beginning when he copied without permission from shispotting and he changed his business model in a win win situation also for us spotters.
But now he changed some things. In past you had to upload by yourself the photos now he has an automatic installed which uploads photos automatically from shipspotting.
For me this is not o.k.
Some days ago I uploaded ZIM San Diego here on shipspotting, only on shipspotting and what a surprise today I found my photo on his new website altough I haven't upload it on his  website.
For me it is important to whom I give my photos. I want to know where they are.
this was the reason to make a break in uploading, now I uploaded some photos and they come up on the wrong place.
---------not good-----------

Dear Cornelia,

why went top posteres such as HansE and others away? The site lost in the last short time a lot of social contacts and friends. They were all people on the hot spots of shipspotting and they were all peope which were a long time with us. Yes every day we have new friends but no one of them upload 5 and more fotos - good ones- a day like they did.
The new site is only to collect our fotos you have no chance to see fotos from others easyly. You have to search by your ownn.
We know each other very good but on this point we are total opositional- I want to konw what with my pictures happens, I want to see my name on my fotos for copyright and I can share the benefit for one of my fotos with this site but I don't want not to donate all and now the main reason I want to upload fotos - and here I will decide if it is worth and what is a good foto and not otherdirected by admins which not have a clue- this is not against you but for some others!!!!!
See you at the next trip there we can discuss more.

Hi all,

the sense of this site is not to supporting us in our hobby or make social contacts for and with our hobby. The sense of this site is to create perfect photos for commercial use. For this they need perfect fotos of vessels with nothing else on it. It must not be a good shot like miraflores ones it must be only the ship,- perfect, clear and in all .
I got e-mail from stupid admins they wanted to delete fotos from 2008 or earlier because the I have copyright in the picture- no problem for me- the new pictures they don't get and the old one's no problem. What sense have it to delete a foto from 2008? And the other top posters don't want to give their fotos away for nothing.
What do you think Tomas sold the site and the site have an investor and he want to get back his money.
On shipspotting places he was nerver seen.
He used us, the fotografers, the admins who spent her time and all to earn money.
I don't like the language of Mr. Petersen but I can understand HansE and the others

.............this is exact the way I'm going since nearly 2 years.
Some weeks ago they deleted a photo from me from 2006!. The policy here is to have mainstream photos for their commercial use

Hi Stevo,
 a superb idea.
tall ship event was a very good day and trip.
If the date is o.k. for me I will join both.
I think for Rotterdam we need at least 1/2 a day!!!

Hi all,

the old problem of watermarks is comming up again.Today I got the message that one of my old pictures will be deleted because it has watermarks. For me means that all of my pictures will be deleted because all of my pictures have watermarks. I know the long discussion about wateremarks and for me all my pictures will have watermarks because Tomas made a lot of appointments to sell pictures from shipspotting to other companies and what the new owner will do no one konws. This was also the reason to upload no new pictures for the past.
