Hello,

What happens to our pictures when we die?

Do they remain on the database ?

Site related news, functions and modules / Summary pages for vessels.

I'd just like to say, whoever thought up the idea of having a separate summary page for vessels certainly gets the thumbs up from me. It's very informative and I especially enjoy the layout.

Well thought out and presented.

Thank you very much. :D

Shipping News and information / Photography skills.

Hello,
Just wanted to say, in my time on the site, I'm blown away by the photography skills of you lot. It's amazing !

I can only capture vessels if I'm standing on the shore which is basic boring stuff, usually side on or on a cruise but some of the angles you guys manage is pure genius. You've really helped me identify my weak points, of which there are many.

One of my biggest problems has been wind.

I must invest in an easily erected tripod. Any ideas? Universal cheap one's would be a bonus.

Thanks again,

Regards,

Hello,

Does anyone know what happened to the Hansa Brandenburg? The last I heard was she was on fire and adrift in the Indian Ocean way back in July.

During this slowdown in growth and it's subsequent knock-on effect, do you think bulkers are in more demand than say, crude carriers?

Shipping News and information / USS Oxford
« on: May 31, 2013, 07:43:00 PM »
Hi all,
Does anyone have any information on the USS Oxford including any photo's?
I'm doing a project on intelligence vessels from the 1950's onwards.

The USS Oxford was a converted Liberty ship and was the first US intelligence gathering ship.

Much obliged

Shipping News and information / Chemical and Product Tankers
« on: January 30, 2012, 10:32:02 PM »
Just a quick question, out of curiosity.

When do you think chemical and product tankers first came into use ?

Judging by some IMO numbers beginning with 7 it must have started in the 70's.

Also, when did IMO numbering first start ?

Happy New Year all,

Hope it's going to be a good one for us re:photo's.

I was chatting to my old man recently about his National Service days and he was telling me about a vessel
he went to Cyprus on, the Empire Test. Does anyone have any pictures of said vessel or this particular type.

Help and Advice / ISO settings
« on: December 28, 2011, 11:29:07 PM »
Can I ask you all a question?

As I've said before, I'm a complete newcomer to this fascinating world of photography.

What's the difference between 'noisy' and low grain shots?

Is this something to do with ISO settings ??

Help and Advice / Types of camera
« on: December 26, 2011, 12:46:26 AM »
I'm looking to upgrade to a Canon DSLR. Can anyone give me any ideas on what type to go for? I also have a Fujifilm HS10 (bridge camera) with a 30x zoom but wondered what others were using.

Regards
