Shipping News and information / Re: Sunken two masted sailing vessel Ipswich

I think this is her taken in July. The high resolution version does not show a name. According to the report in the newspaper there was a leak in the hull and the automatic pumps had kicked in. The pumps may have been working for several weeks before finally burning out (they normally leave the boats hooked up to the electricity mains provided alongside the berths).

There are some more pictures here.

I also caught her moving on th felixstowe webcame, Does anyone know when she will sail having discharged the cranes?

The latest pictures of her can be seen here.
She has already discharged one crane. There are two remaining to discharge. A number of rubber tyred gantry cranes destined for Thamesport then need to be loaded and secured. I should imagine the whole process would take well over a week, maybe two.

Looking at the AIS, the stern of the ship has been refloated and she was moved along the terminal at about 1730hrs.

That explains why Anglian Way made a sudden U-Turn just before 1600hrs on 13/06/07 whilst bound for Ipswich.

As I recall it was wave damage sustained during her early years. The material used was lightweight and fragile (as you can see from the pictures!). She was laid up for a short time afterwards for repairs, this time using stronger materials.

Here is some damage caused by her actually hitting a jetty:

The MSC Columbia (IMO 9103685) on her maiden call to Felixstowe suffered mechanical failure, believed to be engine problems (needs confirmation), on her approach to Felixstowe at approximately 1200hrs today. This occurred with the pilot on board whilst in the deep water channel leading to Harwich Harbour. Anchors were dropped and she came to a halt in the North side of the channel by No. 7 and No. 8 buoys. Two tugs were on the scene immediately as they had been requested to assist her movement in the harbour anyway. A further two tugs were deployed and they attended minutes later. The four tugs assisted her into the harbour area and she was safely moored onto her berth. The Branscombe scavengers will not be required!
One of her 8 tonne anchors was lost in the deep water channel and all deep draft vessels are using the southern side of the channel as a precaution.
Her voyage into Felixstowe had already been delayed by a few hours. The vessel occupying her berth, CSCL America, had container lashing problems and the mandatory Port of Felixstowe crane boom failure.

Shipping News and information / Re: Zhen Hua 17 at Felixstowe

She has been anchored in the Sunk anchorage since departing Felixstowe unladen earlier this week. Now she is scheduled to return to Felixstowe in the next few days. The first visit must have been a delivery of equipment to prepare the crane for transportation.

I had a look at Zhen Hua first thing this morning and she was empty. There were some heavy lift cranes working alongside her presumably preparing to load her with the buckled ship to shore crane.

Zhen Hua 17 has arrived at the Sunk anchorage according to my AIS receiver. Furthermore the arrival at Felixstowe has been put back yet again.
As Felixstowe does not appear to have an equipment order due, I was wondering if she is here with a replacement ship to shore crane or perhaps she will be removing the buckled one. In the end it will probably just turn out to be more rubber tyre gantry cranes!

Shipping News and information / Zhen Hua 17 at Felixstowe

I see that Zhen Hua 17 is due at Felixstowe in the next few days after a stop at Rotterdam. Does anybody know what equipment she is delivering this time? There does not appear to be any due Felixstowe orders shown on the ZPMC website.
