^^ do you really have to start a new thread on Shipsotting's forum for every single post on your blog? I am amaaed that the moderators here are ok with this.

I think this is pretty annoying to be honest, especially when the posting on your blog literally consists of nothing else but stolen content from Lloydslist.

If the mods are fine with this daily spamming, then shipspotting is really going downhill quality-wise.

For me it was about two oldies that finally bowed out

PRINS JOACHIM, which left northern Europe after 36 years of service. And then of course ATLANTIC CONCERT, which departed Hamburg straight for the Beaches of Alang: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2509788

Indeed various MSC NB's will now re-use names of the Odense-built (ex ML) 4,800 teu Panamaxes as these successively phase out to Alang...

MSC PILAR, MSC FEDERICA, MSC SARISKA, MSC LEANNE, MSC MANU, MSC CAROLE, MSC VERONIQUE....

> Demand for Panamax ships has fallen following the expansion of the Panama Canal, which now accommodates post-Panamax ships. It is thus likely that the Kmarin Aqua has been fixed to Maersk Line at a rate substantially lower than what Hanjin Shipping paid...

Only that the KMARIN AQUA is not(!) a panamax ship. IHS got it wrong. Nevertheless, true in regards to the rate.

Shipping News and information / Re: MSC OLIVER, MSC MAYA
« on: April 06, 2016, 08:42:31 PM »
LL has no idea what they are talking about: MSC OLIVER is trading on the 'Albatros', MSC MAYA is indeed short-term idle, between assignments.

^^NE7 is not an Evergreen service, but operated by Yang Ming and Coscon. Evergreen will become a co-operator in May and take over from Coscon. Evergreen will contribute 14,300 teu NBs from Samsung HI.

Here is your answer:

She will phase out shortly. In order to avoid canal fees on the trip to Alang, I guess the ACL Conveyor will proceed to India from the USEC via the Cape.

Tallink is not involved.

Re Buxhai @ Stephen.

The vessel will actually not be lengthened with a single section, but widened to improve max intake, stability intake, per-teu consumption, etc.

See more here:

http://www.reederei-nsb.de/en/knowledge/technical-nautical-services/widening-of-panmax-ships/

Apptly, the TC rate Delta between panamaxes and over-panamaxed does (at least in NSBs view) justifiy the investment.

However - given the aformentioned scheudle, it looks like she will perform the NZ roundtrip *before* being converted...

Shipping News and information / Re: 'MSC Oscar' Class vessel names.

Rick / Jan

Afaik the distinction boys name / girls name has no bearing on whether the ships are chartered or not. All (or most) of the MSC 18,000 teu ships will be chartered from varous owners, such as BoComm Leasing and MSFL. However, sice they are long-term chartered on bareboat/drylease terms, the ships will be managed by MSC itself. Hence the names. Time chartered MSC vessels under third-party managment usually have geographic (city, country, river, etc) names - with some well-known exceptions.

They are not expected to order mega ships any time soon.

Not strictly true. A number of carriers, including ML, are in the market for ultra-large ships at the moment, with further orders expected to be placed in 2015 for 2017-2018 delivery.

Shipping News and information / Re: New ships for Maersk Line

None of the new vessels will be under 10,000 TEUs.

^^ Not really true. On the top of the APM-M Group's wishlist there are ten SECA-optmised vessels of ca 3,400 teu, earmarked for intra-Europe services. These could very well end up with Seago. A shipyard tender is already underway...

Furthermore, in the not-too-distant future, ML needs replacement for a number of ageing 8,000 teu ships from Odense (ML's first Jumbos will soon reach 20 years of age). These could be succeeded by modern wide-beam 'New-Panamax' tonnage of 9,000 to 11,000 teu. ML already committed to interim charters for five such ships.

Shipping News and information / Re: China explains P3 rejection
« on: June 23, 2014, 01:06:45 PM »
imagine if the US or EU would have made the rejection,,special the US,,an uproar through the world with storming US embassies, if China does that,,all is fine.

What the heck are you talking about!? In the past, both US and EU competition authorities have disapproved of numerous mergers and acquisitions or made them subject to rather strict conditions.

IT and telecommunication M&A's, anyone?

Also, various US-administrations and US-government bodies have repeatedly 'regulated' (not to say '
manipulated') the 'free market' for the benefit of US-American firms.

Recommeneded readings in this context:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_Ports_World_controversy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force_tanker_contract_controversy

I can't recall anyone 'storming' US embassies at the occasion. So you're being overly dramatic here.

Capatain Ted, since you are so eager to comment on each and every single post here, would you care to elaborate which 1A-ice classed 2,500 teu SECA feeder vessels are presently laid up?

Or is this just your usual blabla again?
