« on: November 17, 2022, 10:00:54 AM »
Disney Cruise Line will buy the unfinished cruise ship Global Dream of bankrupt MV Werften Wismar in Germany. Disney announced this in a blog entry.

The construction of Global Dream (completed by 75%) will be finished at Wismar supervised by Disney with the help from experts of Meyer shipyard. Originally planned to accommodate 9,600 passengers Disney announced to reduce the number of passengers to 6,000 (with 2,300 crew members).

@Holger

I think you might have missed this thread
https://forum.shipspotting.com/index.php/topic,17526.0.html

I'm afraid there won't be no further updates on the Miramar website.

That's strange guys... I was asked today to change my password.

I chose one my browser created (which was accepted instantly), confirmed that I'm no robot, submitted the new data, got the activation email instantly, clicked on the link and after that I was able to log in again immediately.

@Robert - Did you check your spam filter?

On the homepage click on PHOTOS -> PHOTO INDEX (and there scroll down a bit)

Site related news, functions and modules / Re: Soon - New website design

Indeed, adding or editing an ENI number also is impossible at the moment. The leading zero is not accepted as a digit, thus the system thinks you're trying to add a 7-digit number instead of an 8-digit number and you get the corresponding error message...

Hi Rick,

usually the edit button could be found beneath the photo when you clicked on "More".

I just realized that the edit function is completely gone (at least for me). There's only the "full screen" option when I click on "More"...

Maybe a temporary glitch due to work on the site layout?

Shipping News and information / Re: MILITARY IMO NUMBERS
« on: July 26, 2022, 09:44:33 PM »
PS:

Sometimes if you're lucky you can also find numbers for ships that have already been scrapped on Wikipedia, like in the English articles for the British type 42 destroyers...

Hi Alan,

you can find numbers for active vessels here:
https://webaccounts.imo.org/Common/weblogin.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f&error_message=interaction_required

You can register as a "Public User", it's a free account.

However, not all military vessels seem to have an IMO number (e.g. only few Turkish vessels have one) and the IMO database does not list vessels that have already been broken up or are out of service for other reasons.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Jens

"I have now joined Fleetmon: also a website with beautiful and good photos from all over the world."

Pieter, you haven't joined Fleetmon now, you've joined Fleetmon already back in August 2019....

... which is a fine website for anyone who just wants to upload photos and not be bothered by reactions of other members of this website to your photos (Unless you play the "If you give a like to my photo, I'll give a like to your photo" game on a daily basis with each uploaded photo by other members. And even if you don't like it, make sure you're giving it a like).

Don't care too much about photo comments on Fleetmon, the only true currency is likes.

I got fed up with this game on Fleetmon about two years ago. You upload a good photo of ship X and get 15 likes and two days later another photographer uploads a brutally enhanced or drab photo of the same ship and the likes for this photo go through the roof. And this happened again and again. Thanks, but no thanks, I've got my pride, too. In the Fleetmon "community" (which in part I like to call the Kiel Canal/Cuxhaven Mafia) it's not about the photo, it's about who uploaded the photo...

But that's just my personal experience/opinion on/about Fleetmon...

So it seems I got it right and IMO.org mixed up the names.

Thanks for the help! :)

Hello everybody,

during my constant hunt for IMO numbers I lately came across the above mentioned patrol vessels.

IMO.org says that Lindisfarne (IMO 7516333) in 2004 became the Bangladesh Sangu and Guernsey (IMO 7516321) the Bangladesh Turag.
Wikipedia however says that Lindisfarne became Turag and Guernsey became Sangu.

Can anyone say for sure who is right? Wikipedia or IMO.org?

Cheers,

Jens

PS: Until this is solved I followed Wikipedia and added Guernsey's IMO also to Sangu's photos.

Eddie, when I follow your link, I see "Verdi" at Gunness, so far 12 views... (or as it is called now: hits). :)

Thanks for all the effort put into the redesign of the website. It's really, really great that the ENI no. now has the same funtionality as the IMO no.
Made my day! :)

Cheers
Jens

Trying to correct a name like FS L\'Aigle M647 to FS L'Aigle M647 in the photo manager isn't possible. The following error occurs:

Error 2: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Aigle M647' WHERE lid='3406499'' at line 1

Cheers
