Has the fishing vessel any claim to salvage..
Or what sort of payment can they look forward to..Other than fuel. there must be some claim as the vessel wont give up the tow to a tug.. I am aware when its come to salvage there are many different laws..

I was a tuan fisherman for 7 years but we never hooked one this big   [re Jim H comment]

As has been said, probably not a lot of the 1969 ship is still there.

Best Regards
John J.

Wow i didn't know that.. Why on earth would they convert a ship like that ..Surly it would have been just as easy to build a new ship.. You see this is what i love about this site, the information freeway on ships..

There has been nothing written on this site that hasn't been splashed all over the world via TV Internet Phones faxes pigeons telex or by any means of communication. So if some people think a thread like this is not to their liking there are some that think it is.. Anyway each to there own i still find it funny how he tripped and fell into a life raft..Now a Pillow..  Oh Dear

Well as they say its old news. They the media would be waiting for the next big event.I would love to follow the salvage although i think it will be a long process..I would think that SMIT would get the contract but that's only my guess..The Media will no doubt have something else to report..But a cruise ship with 4000 plus passangers and crew doesn't roll over everyday...

OK you can call me uniformed but i was always under the impression
that the ships that visited Esperance [home town] were Cape Class or Panamax..After reading the link below i realize how wrong i have been.. The Largest ships to berth here in Esperance are 290-300 metres..I always referred to them as Cape class Is there such a class still..
