Shipping News and information / Ship measurements comparison
« on: January 29, 2012, 08:13:16 AM »
OK you can call me uniformed but i was always under the impression
that the ships that visited Esperance [home town] were Cape Class or Panamax..After reading the link below i realize how wrong i have been.. The Largest ships to berth here in Esperance are 290-300 metres..I always referred to them as Cape class Is there such a class still..

Shipping News and information / How old is too Old for a ship
« on: January 22, 2012, 02:22:14 AM »
I was just down watching the ATHENA 5383304 berth in Esperance Western Australia my home town. A Tourist asked me a little about the ship and i told him that it was built in 1948..He was very surprised and asked me the question How old is to old and i could not answer that..So i pose the question to my fellow spotters..Just how long can the Athena or ships of that vintage keep going...

Cheers..

I have at times been a little miffed at the deletion of one or more of my photos.. However i have been around a little while now and i do appreciate the standards set by the Admins..I have even had a look at a few that i have uploaded and deleted them myself..After viewing another shipping site i have to say this site wins hands down...The quality of Photos is very good....

Keep up the good work..

The Whaling issue is getting out of hand its big big news in Australia and world wide..They play cat and mouse on the high seas and last year a vessel sank.. I was wondering what fellow shipspotters think of this issue and does it make the news in your country wherever that may be..
