Hi Peter,

They are not there anymore. It is probably an error but I'm just wondering how that kind of error could occur.

I just noticed another one near the Airport in Montreal.

Could they be float-planes?

Well, I did find several references to MMSI numbers being given to SAR aircraft (http://www.gmdss.com.au/mmsi%20for%20sar%20aircraft.html), however, they seem to specify codes beginning with "111"

According to Wikipedia, MMSI numbers beginning with "2" are assigned to Europe...

Here is another one at the Montreal Airport.

MMSI : 081688937

According to this website the ships is 'length 253 m width 23 m draft 7.4 m'

Is it possible that the AIS system is undergoing maintenance and is taken away from a ship?

There was a similar one a few days ago in the middle of St John's, Newfoundland, turned out to be a what you said, the AIS computer was removed from the ship and was being serviced. They turned it on for testing

Thanks Barry,

That seems to be the most plausible explanation.
