CSCL Star First vessel to use Felixstowe South Terminal
« on: February 19, 2011, 12:12:36 AM »
Hi All,

I have just been following the new 14,000TEU vessel CSCL Star arrive at Felixstowe on AIS-live and it looks as though she has berthed at the new Felixstowe South terminal.

If they work her on this berth then that would make her the first mainline vessel to work at the new Felixstowe South berth.

Was hoping to make the trip up to catch her but as usual the weather has not allowed that!!

Can anyone confirm when she is due to sail schedule show 21st?

thanks & Regards
Andrew

They are removing the top layer of containers as a trial, she will then move to the nomal unloading berths to complete off loading.

CSCL Star is not the first I'm afraid, she is the third? (see below) to use the new terminal, the second was MSC Ingrid overnight on the 2/3rd of February, the first was a feeder which I never saw nor heard much about, so may have never even worked the quay. So CSCL Star is either the third or second vessel on the berth, couple of photos of both large vessel just uploaded to my collection here this afternoon.

MSC Ingrid was a dual cycle working, discharge and load, CSCL is a discharge only of 669 boxes, last time I saw the manifest 18 hrs ago, thats possibly the top layer and some of the next one down. CSCL Star is due to move over to the Trinity top berth around midnight tonight to complete her cycle.

I'm not at work right now so cannot confirm actual departure time and date, wont be back until the 23rd I'm afraid. I'll check when next back at work with my shift partner, he was commissioning the new cranes so will know exactly if they worked the feeder or not.

Hope that helps

Michael

Hi Michael,

thanks for info, I knew a feeder worked on the term think it was an OPDR vessel.

The OPDR vessel was OPDR Tenerife which berthed alongside the new terminal on 27/1.

Thanks chaps for the OPDR conformation, so CSCL Star is the third vessel to use FSR thus far.

Best

I visted Shotley Gate with my parents yesterday to see the new CSCL Star, berthed at Trinity Terminal. Thought you might like to see a photo!  :)
