I am a historian researching the ten "98-footer"harbor tugs built by the US Army in 1909 for use by the Coast Artillery. One of those, the Captain James Fornance served much of its later career (1930s-1940s) in Alaska servicing Chilkoot Barracks. It was later sold for commercial use and was renamed the Pacific Atom.
The last I can find of the Pacific Atom is that she was owned (1976) by a Frenchman living in Cambodia and that she was registered in Guam as a US flag. In April 1977 she was advertised as being for sale in the The Straits Times (Singapore). One source says she foundered in a typhoon in the Philippines in 1978.
Does anyone know anything about the Pacific Atom after April 1977?
Regards--
