Watching Sky News earlier with regards to Sirius Star they used one of Fred V Loos pics although not mentioning him they did say the picture came from Shipspotting.com. Later on a few more pics were shown with the tag Pictures from Shipspotting.com.

Hi Chris

This shot on the Sky Web site looks like one of Fred's.

Compare http://tinyurl.com/65q8vv with
http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=753236

Of course Fred may have given permission  :-)

Regards

They put a few more on screen around 14:30ish not sure who's they were. Just out of interest if our pics were used without permission would we have just cause to seek recompense for their use or am I just the materialistic weasel of the site  ?

Most news organizations have a copyright contact. In CNN's case (where I saw the URL of this site, which led me to drop by) it's at the bottom of this page: http://www.cnn.com/about/

CNN used Knut Brandt's photo. Knut told me he gave permission and Knut's name was prominent on TV.
Skynews used my photo with my permission.
Cheers

Hi Fred

Good to hear that the media asked first

Although a shame that the BBC News site is using your photograph with APD as the copyright holder - see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7734733.stm

The BBC News website is also using the same photo Fred. However, they quote the source as "AFP" which I think is an agency supplying images to the media.

I had this shot of "African wildcat" published in a number of Norwegian media this summer. She unloaded phosfate from west-sahara, a place not to be traded with. Four newspapers and the national tv-channel. Only one that didnt pay was tv... I will concider that, the next time they ask me for the annual fee, haha!

Hi Phil, I see our photos everywhere now. Sometimes with a name, most of the times with no names and once with a wrong name. I sent a mail to the BBC, but I am not going to spent to much time. It's busy enough here for me at work.
Cheers
Fred
