I stand corrected!! Official statements have now been released.
The Netherlands branch of Reederei Blue Star IS to be renamed Nedlloyd Ship Management. However, the German company is to retain the Blue Star name.
Several of the ships coming under its umbrella will thus be given names with the 'NEDLLOYD' prefix.
The renaming of the 5,468 teu P&O NEDLLOYD BARENTSZ to NEDLLOYD BARENTSZ is also correct, while the 2,980 teu P&O NEDLLOYD NINGBO is to become NEDLLOYD MUSCAT.
Incidentally, nine other ships prefixed in 'NEDLLOYD' were never renamed after the creation of P&O Nedlloyd in 1997, including Nedlloyd's seven hatchless ships (NEDLLOYD ASIA and NEDLLOYD HONG KONG series).
Sorry to have doubted the original posting on the subject, Clearly we have an insider at PONL here, but without knowing that at the time, it just didn't ring true.
With tail firmly between legs........... :-?
