Ehm, what´s actually the idea of this topic? Could you explain little closer what you mean? :-)

Does this mean if you see a ship when she´s being renamed and tell here about that renaming?

I presume they need to be posted as a 'reply' under here rather than as a 'new topic'?

Dates of alteration od record (which is always later than actual renaming) and new owners etc. can be found by ref. to Equasis at www.equasis.org
Just a few to start things off.

AASVAER 1591/72 now BUSTEIN (Dom)
BALTIC SHAMROCK 2780/99 now MERWEKREEK (Nld)
FLINTERSKY 6577/02 now UAL ABERDEEN (Nld)
HOOMOSS 794/85 now LIDER KARTAL (Svk)
HOO TERN 794/85 now LIDER CEYLAN (Svk)
Best wishes from Hull
George

It means exactly what it says and is in response to a request from 'Humberships' on the Shipspotters part of the forum.

Could we please include the IMO NO. with all renamings. This will ensure we are talking about the right ship.

Thanks
Allan (Eurag)

I find that an unpleasant answer, but you´re a moderator... ;-)

Still I consider this quite a weird idea because there happen always hundreds of renamings on the seas. But if the most likes this idea, then it should work. I could also put here some renamings if I´ll get infos about ´em or see newly renamed vessels somewhere.

EDIT: Found already one renaming:
AILA (Fin) 4535/89 now AFALINA (Ltu) IMO: 8820092

Be aware that all PONL ship will be renamed in the coming  two month  by removing the P&O-Nedlloyd name and replacing it by maersk..... Black hull will be changed in a blue hull during next dry docking

best regards
Peter :-x

Well that will save me an awful lot of typing, the P&O NEDLLOYD was always a bit lengthy!
Wonder if all the ships just getting CP ***** names will get another change to Hapag type ****** EXPRESS names!!
Best wishes from Hull

Well, nine days passed and only one renaming offered (thanks!) except for those I posted to get things started ... looks like the idea has fallen flat!

That´s a very interesting move to use old Nedlloyd-prefix. Just wondering how long they are going to use that kind of names. Because I think everyone are thinking that the prefixes would change later to beginning Maersk.

Hi,
Out here in New Zealand we understand that P&O Nedlloyd will be dropped from the name and replaced by Maersk.I dont understand why they would rename P&O Nedlloyd Barentsz by dropping the P&O Nedlloyd only.Maybe the renaming was still being done at the time of spotting and she is now Maersk Barentsz.I have an interest in P&O Nedlloyd and would welcome any news on change of names or liverey. There are a number of changes to services from here and ships are often only making a couple of viyages before being replaced by others.

Alan :-)

just heard that it is the intention of A.P. Møller to pay tribute to the maritime tradition of PONL by not changing the name of ships in Maersk .......……but by changing it to Nedlloyd…..... Also some new building ships will be carrying the name Nedlloyd…......….
However the name P&O is disappearing from the ships due to the fact the P&O company is no longer a shareholder.
