Ventura naming by Dame Helen Mirren

Hi All

Dame Helen Mirren will this week officially name the biggest cruise ship ever to be designed exclusively for the UK market.

The Oscar-winning actress will be on board the P&O Cruises vessel Ventura at Southampton on Wednesday evening for the naming ceremony.

Hundreds of guests will gather for the glittering quayside ceremony before attending a dinner on board the 115,000-tonne liner.

I photographed Ventura from East Cowes on Friday evening. She was sailing on a short 'pre-maiden voyage' cruise to Zeebrugge. the christening will be something special since a couple of special forces soldiers will abseil down to the vessel to break the bottle of champagne  :-D

Well I've  just watched the naming ceremony and thought it was pretty terrible!
A shame really as I really wanted to like Ventura, but I'm rapidly going off it.
