8 sailors are feared drowned after the Thailand-flagged cargo m/v "Emerald", 961 gt, (built 1961, IMO 6828480) sank in Brunei Bay close to Labuan Island in rough seas after machine damage. The ship had departed from Kota Kinabalu Port to Bangkok with a cargo of timber and wood, ETA Dec 30, 2007. 2 survivors were found on Dec 28 30 miles off Brunei. During an SAR-operation of Malaysian navy,airforce and police three more survivors were found.
