Does someone able to explain what are the reasons for the enlargements on both side of the hull and what the white and red mark means ?

MV Capucine (IMO 9539066), a sister-ship built at the same Japanese yard one year before her has no such enlargements :  https://www.kyokuyoshipyard.com/en/products/featured/capucine.html

My feeling is that it has to see with stability matters, but I would appreciate to know the trick (quite) precisely.

Hi, the white/red mark is used for pilot embarkment in ships with freeboard more than 9 metres, using the accommodation ladder in combination with the pilot ladder, ( search in google required boarding arrangements for pilot)

You may note that WILHELMINE has an extra deck, so the sponsons are most likely to be to assist stability.

You are right Patrick, sponsons added for sytability after a conversion in Chengxi shipyard 2012, here is the story
