The 19 crew members were evacuated by helicopter and are safe. The ship is badly damaged. They have managed to pump off some of the oil but not all. She has been leaking oil. Salvage will probably not work because of the damages to the rump so she may have to be broken up in situ.

Hello all

The ship is a total lost and will be dismanteled on the beach. It will take several months and will be a very hard work to no add further damages to the flora and fauna.

Naval authorities are making investigations to know why the ship leave the safty of Lorient harbour during this tempest (level 12) and finish her travel on this beach (witch is a natural fauna and flora reserve).

More informations, photos and videos (in French i

From the first photos she appears to have roped tarpaulins covering the fore hatch, and a missing section of hatch cover on the aft. Not the best precautions for setting to sea in a force 12?

Would be interested to know which nationality are the crew - where they did embark and how long they were on board- Seafarers have presently a lot of problems to get schengen visas on arrival Paris or Amsterdam airports and homeland consulates cannot also issue visas in short times - we have noticed a lot of tired crews on many ships due to this recent problems.

Any info appreciated

Once again Jean, thank you for sharing these magnificent images!

As journalists have always known, bad news is of great interest to most people.  But it is not often recorded as dramatically as here.

Have a good 2012

So far as can ascertain TK BREMEN has in the past been mannned by full Turkish complement of 18.  But on this occasion French press report Turkish master plus 18 crew of Turkish, Azerbaidjan and Croatian nationalities (proportions not given)
