Difficulty Identifying Naval Vessels
« on: October 16, 2011, 04:27:17 PM »
I had the opportunity to visit the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard on 19.08.11 and took photos of many of the vessels berthed there. Regretfully, there are 3 vessels which I am unable to identify: 2 lying alongside each other appear to be decommissioned, and I believe the other would be an RFA.  Is there any way of finding out what vessels were in dock on 19.08.11 ?

Why not just post the photos in "Mystery Vessels"?

Hi Alan,

have you been INSIDE the dockyards? Looks like a ship tour.
I am still looking for a navigational aid I was unable to get because its location inside the military dockyard in Southampton for my pages www.ListofLights.org.

Could you check your pictures please if you find something similar looking like this http://www.listoflights.org/bilder/band_a/gross/A0596.jpg?

The Direction Light is located in Basin 2 on 50 48,3'N 1 06,47'W

I have attached a map if you want to check  :)

Thanks!
Alex
