P&O announce names.
« on: August 29, 2014, 09:46:02 PM »
P&O has announced that Ryndam and Statendam will recieve the names Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden when they arrive in the PO Australia fleet. I am unaware at present which ship will recieve which name.

It would have been nicer if they'd received traditional P&O names e.g. Straths. Saying that what passes for P&O Cruises these days has absolutely no relation to the old company. The new graffiti/vandalism pertaining to be a new livery is evidence of that alone.

As far as any connection with the old P&O is concerned, these ships might just as well have been named "Carnival Aria" and "Carnival Eden". The "Pacific" names are quite relevant to their operating area

what do you expect from a US based company - no taste and no sense of history  -  just razzmatazz and slick marketing

Luckily, the UK flag livery will not reach the fleet in Australia, so the HAL ships will be unaffected.

Here is the P&O Australia website's introduction of their new ships.

Also, here is Ryndam in Vigo in 2011.

So they are to retain their HAL livery are they?  I think the first name Pacific is quite fitting seeing they are a separate division of carnival.
