We just updated the site with a major overhaul!

Now there are photos, filters and a great playback facility if you want to watch what happened at a certain point in time!

Also....no ads!!!!!  (We like this bit the most as other sites have flashing banners all over!)

Good site and nice to see the vessels moving in real time , well kind of! You really have to be a little more patient though , until it loads.

Interesting site but not many ships tracked for North America. Any idea if they will increase the number ships tracked? There are 0 ships for where I live (Quebec City).

Marinetraffic also doesn't track ships (reliably) in my area so that is why I use Siitech.

There are not many sharers who want to send data to the web.We can't expect better AIS coverage if we don't take a part in. So,the best way is to buy AIS receiver and start sharing.
You can buy receiver from about 140 USD to more.There are plenty models on the market to choose from.From USB stick shape to small box shape.
You can see at http://www.radargadgets.com/ or http://www.milltechmarine.com/AIS-Receivers_c_13.html  Plenty AIS dealers on web.Just to mentioned a few.
They are also available on Ebay.Maybe you can find better price there.
If someone already got it one would be nice to join and share data with Marine Traffic,

I like the functionality of the service, but I would be cautious to say it is faster thab marinetraffic.  I think maps and objects (ships) load faster on marinetraffic.

According to Ship Finder, Klostertal is currently sailing down Northfleet High Street. Not quite a new alternative to marinetraffic, I am thinking.

Very nice site. One little issue though, the photos that are with the ships info are of breach of copyright. I found a couple of my photos of Searoad Mersey and Goliath had been used without my permission and had a watermark belonging to a Richard Barns on it. This guy has used other peoples images from this site as well.
