Loss of colour when posting photos
« on: March 14, 2010, 05:03:09 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm starting to find that when I post a photo I loose a bit of colour from my photos

Heres an example:

Shipsotting.com: Spirit of Tasmania 1
Compare that to:
Flickr: Spirit of Tasmania 1

Shipspotting.com: Alcem Lugait at Night
Compare that to
Flickr: Alcem Lugait at Night

Is anyone else having the same problem? Am I doing something wrong? Any advice / help would be brilliant!

Thanks,
Cody

May be it is shipspotting.com resizing tools work badly?

Hi Cody

Are you comparing the FULL VIEW on Shipspotting compared to Flickr?

The software that is used on different sites works in slightly different ways and often the compression/up scaling works to different parameters. Wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Cody:

I think the problem is when you process your images you are using a color profile other than sRGB which is the web standard. When saving images, you need to check to see if your image processing software has a "Save for Web" function.
