Hi, I'm not having any photo of the Giovanna, but I could tell you thou that I was at that time a young crewmember onboard the Norwegian ship "Tamelane" that first came to the area and started to pick up the Italian crew while waiting for the USCGC Mellon. Most of the officers and crew onboard Tamelane was to busy searching for and rescuing people in the sea. I know that a 2nd engineer onboard "Tamelane" was very busy taking picture of the burning and sinking Giovanna. Since it's more that 35 years ago I do not remember his name, but as a long shot the ship owner Wilhelm Wilhelmsen located in Oslo my be of some help from their archive. The only thing I remember was that this engineer came from Bergen area in Norway. Tamelane does not longer exist, but even so, if you are into the detectives work, this could be a path to follow.
Good luck with your search, if you ever get a picture in hand, pls. call me. I still have my rescue medal in gold, that I received from the Italian ship owner. I would very much appreciate a picture of the Geovanna and USCGC Mellon, to put on the wall beside the medal.
