I looked out my window this morning and saw a stack that I didn't recognize so I drove to Home Depot (where the marine terminal is) and found a ship called 'Positive Passion'.  We have just started having car carriers here and I love it.  I went online to find out about this ship and I found this site.  Is this just for posting pix?  Is there a site where I can report 'sightings' of ships?  Thanks in advance.

Hi Fay

Welcome to the site - you don't say where you are but from the mention of Home Depot, suggests you are in the USA? - indeed I see from AIS that the ship mentioned is in Grays Harbor, WA.

Not sure that there is a site on the Web that allows for Joe Public to post details of ships sighted - if there was it would quickly fill up with all of the ship movements that take place throughout the World on a daily basis. I suppose to a certain degree this site actually records ship sightings via the photographs that are posted, i.e. the uploaded photographs is accompanied by the date and place where it was shot.

Here on the Tyne (North East England) was are very well supplied with information by the Port of Tyne Authority via three on line resources which record ship movements, history of ship movements and ships on berth - all within the Tyne/Wear I would add.  Check out:

http://www.portoftyneonline.co.uk/harbour/shipping_history.asp

We see a lot of Car Carriers on the Tyne as Nissan has a car manufacturing plant close by at Washington, although river traffic of late has been scant!

Regards
