CMA CGM takes delivery of first 13,300teu vessel
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:08:20 PM »
CMA CGM recently received the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb, first of eight explorer class ships with a capacity of 13,300 teu.
Ordered at DSME (Daewoo) in July 2007. The ship was originally planned for delivery in July, but due to a dispute with South Korea's Eximbank over ship values the handing over was delayed.

The newbuilding is assigned to the Maersk Line-CMA CGM joint Far East-Europe AE-7/FAL 7 service, in which she will join the Maersk

I learned that she will come to Bremerhaven on 09.12.2009. But I just don't know exact time. Maybe on CMA CGm webside we'll find some info...

Regards,
Holger

From their website the route is:

The vessel will start its rotation in Shanghai on the 11th of November and then on to Ningbo (12th of November), Xiamen (14th of November), Hong Kong (15th of November), Yantian (16th of November) and Algeciras (3rd of December) before calling Rotterdam on the 7th of December and, finally, Bremerhaven on the 9th of December.

Sadly, no stop in the UK  :-(

Regards

Bob

Hi Andrew,

The delivery of the CCCC was delayed deliberately, to await better times in the market. It had no relation with the dispute with Kexim. This only concerns the CMA CGM Andromeda-series (11,300 TEU), of which six ships are now anchored off the Hyundai shipyard. It is reported that there is some progress in the row and delivery should come on stream in Q1 of 2010, but it still remains to be seen, given CMA CGM's financial predicament.

The rest of the DSME 13,344 TEU series will also be delayed by four to eight months, with the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci coming within two weeks and the CMA CGM Corte Real next month.

Best regards,
Herbert

Hello all,

Any more news on the Amerigo Vespucci and Corte Real? At the turn of the new year we heard they would be handed over in a few weeks, but apparently that is not the case.

Well, I hope we will be seeing them soon. The latest newsletter of Alphaliner says that deliveries are looming for a number of previously deferred ships, but without a subscription I can't see whether these are among them. I feel so uninformed now that the containership-info newsletter is gone and Alphaliner's stopped being free!  :-(
