The death toll has risen sharply to 39 in the ferry capsizal incident in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, as more dead bodies have been recovered with the salvage of the launch on early Friday.
The MV Sourav ferry sailing from Dhaka Sadarghat Terminal for Munshiganj district, about 30 km southeast of Dhaka, capsized in the Buriganga river on the outskirt of Dhaka on Thursday afternoon after being hit by a sand-laden barge Thursday afternoon.
The ferry carrying about 150 passengers on board was salvged at 5:15 am Friday by salvaging ship "Rustam" after 7 hours frantic efforts.
