Container m/v "Agaman" towed into Beyonne Port
« on: January 01, 2008, 12:26:54 PM »
The container m/v "Agaman", which had been disabled by machine failure on Dec 26 90 miles southeast of Nantucket was towed into Bayonne Port by the tug "Atlatntic Salvor" of DonJon Marine, Hillside after a tow of 170 miles. The coast guard found several technical defiencies there. The ship is owned by the Komrowski Shipping Company, Hamburg. It had been underway from Cuba to Canada. The m/v`s "Dual Confidence", "Aegeas" and "Moselle" had been on standby during the days and made sure communication. The crew of the "Agaman" had gathered around a fire on the poop deck without warm food and heating after the generators had failed.

That was a pretty slow tow.  They are lucky they didn't get caught in one of the frequent nor'easters that have hit that area in the last few weeks.

I would have thought that the crew might have been able to get pizza delivery once off Long Island! :-D
