Dreyfus buys Fairmount
« on: June 18, 2007, 06:32:41 PM »
French shipowner Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has acquired Dutch ocean towage specialist Fairmount Marine for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition follows a two-year joint venture between the companies specializing in the heavylift market called Louis Dreyfus Fairmount.
Fairmount boasts a fleet of five 16,320-bhp tugs built in Japan since 2005 and a sixth 9,200-bhp tug dating from the late 1970s.
The Dutch concern, which started business over 30 years ago, also owns the 50,000-dwt semi-submersible barge Gavea Lifter.
In February this year Louis Dreyfus Fairmount ordered two 32,000-dwt semi-submersible barges for delivery by the middle of next year.
Since early 2005 Fairmount Marine has also been part of One-Allianz, a long distance towage joint venture with Singapore
Best regards
Bj
