In all honesty i cannot remember exact figures but i know for the 'P' class this being the Baltimore,Boston,Brooklyn etc the effect of extra weight is easily counter balanced by the increased efficiency of the propellor at increased drafts. However whilst i was onboard we received orders from the main office that due to stats found out during other sea trials the vessel was to sail by the head at all available opportunities. Once the vessel was trimmed by a minimum of a metre increases in speed and efficiency were clearly visible.
