Maersk's Polaris vessel B Trader IMO 9813802 is to be diverted from her usual schedule. She arrived in Auckland from Melbourne and is now heading for Suva. She will then head back to Melbourne before resuming her usual schedule. There is no sign yet of her name change.

Ref. query from Peter Kerr - "I notice "DESTINE" is due to arrive in Wellington today. I'd only ever seen her as a bunkering tanker especially around Circular Quay, Sydney. Has she been sold? I haven't heard any news about that. She is staying in Wellington for 10 days - again interesting. Does anyone know what's up?"

I thought would move the matter to the regular New Zealand string:

In response, my sources advise - As noted the Destine previously operated in Sydney and noe following acquisition by Silver Fern Shipping, the bunker tanker will be permanently based in Wellington under the management of BP. She will operate from the Burnham Wharf in Evans Bay servicing the Interislander and Bluebridge fleets, and is intended to be renamed Kokako.

Thanks for the news Brett. I hadn't heard about it and was surprised when I saw her arrival scheduled for Wellington last week.
