Northport is upping their game as a container shipping port.

MSC vessels will start calling for the kiwifruit season, with the Cali and MSC Corinna due in April.

The Panama Direct Line (PAD) is adding Northport to the schedule with the Nordpacific, Mariner and Nordamelia all calling in April.

Also there is a yet unnamed Asian southbound vessel that will discharge due to the ongoing congestion in Auckland.

These add to the fortnightly call of the coastal container vessel Moana Chief.

NZ exporters are becoming frustrated with on going container vessel delays. A group of meat exporters have chartered a reefer to load meat in New Plymouth , Lyttelton and Tauranga.
She is Cool Expreso IMO 9085479, and she is coming in ballast from Posorja Ecuador.
She will discharge at the Port of Stockton, which is up the San Joaquin River from San Francisco.

The first shipment of meat was a success and the Cool Expreso has returned for a second load.

Due to Maersk exiting the NZ to Fiji trade, Neptune Pacific Direct Line are looking to add additional tonnage to their schedule.
Until this happens and to facilitate schedule integrity, they will be transferring Capitaine Baret IMO 9419668 in September to the run. She will do NZ - Tahiti - Fiji - NZ.
The Capitaine Dampier will take over the Fiji to ECNA schedule from the Capitaine Baret.
