Dear all,
In 1972 my dad was part of the SS 'Liverpool Bay' crew.
I recently found out that they were involved in a rescue mission.
A French Roll-on-roll-off ship made water due to shifting cargo and when the Liverpool Bay received the distress call they changed direction.
They managed to rescue a lot of people and I was told that the French gouvernement rewarded the crew with a medal.
Is there any back-info in this?
My dad told me yesterday that he really regrets that he had lost the French reward over the course of time. It's not occasionally that my dad talks about his shipping edeavors, and this particular event he never told me about.
I would really like to compile some kind of storybook....
Anny help is highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Bas.
