Finding the site very slow this afternoon, appears to be only 80 users on at present but opening pages an downloading full frame photo's is quite erratic,
anyone else noticing anything amiss?

Perhaps some of the anomalies experienced by various members (during the month of August) had something to do with site testing in regards to https change over...? It was reported by site management in June that IT confirmed transition to https designation was expected to be implemented around the end of August.
Presumably a new launch date has since been established ...?

Good morning,

is there any update on this ?

Meanhile IT have confirmed "A change to HTTPS is on our roadmap for ShipSpotting and it is expected to be implemented in around 2 months from now."

@Andrecas.  The old IT set-up indeed said it was "on the job" but actually never did anything.

Unfortunately activity on this front appears to have ground to a halt.  Changes were apparently made to the IT team, but I have not been informed of any revised programme yet.  I'll keep asking.

Presumably the ongoing delay in getting this https program up and running on Shipspotting is a source of frustration for the webmaster(s). When you see some of the other marine sites (Vesseltracker/Fleetmon/Vesselfinder/Shippingexplorer/Marine Traffic, etc.), encrypted, one might ask why is it seemingly so difficult for Shipspotting to add this feature..? Maybe it is a resource issue and/or the owner(s) unwilling to make such an investment..? Directly under the Shipspotting.com masthead reads, "The best ship information, ship photos and shipping news". There is no doubt the webmasters and admins manage this site at a very high standard. (And in the background the IT team working to keep things running smoothly whenever a glitch surfaces). Moving forward, perhaps the change David mentioned in previous post will encourage the IT team to expedite move to "https".

Hi
The last few days it takes a long time to download photos.
Press Full Screen and here it loads much faster.

Site appears very slow and sluggish this morning, also showing "data base errors" below full screen images. Is anyone else seeing these problems? Have restarted my computer but problem still persists. So can only assume that a site problem exists.
Regards to all, Anthony Legg
